Hello writers, my name is Annette. I am an independent editor and consultant based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with experience in fiction, drama, academic curriculum, and professional writing. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from West Texas A&M University and my Master of Arts in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from Angelo State University. I have over a decade of experience in academic and creative writing. As a former public school educator and drama director, I have a devoted passion for storytelling.

The bulk of my professional experience is in the public school system. Prior to education, I worked in facility sales and theater management. Through my work, I had the privilege of writing, producing, and directing plays for performance. I also wrote and developed curriculum for the theatre program. I am experienced in appropriate comprehension and engagement levels according to subject and audience.

As a writer: I have written countless fiction and nonfiction stories. I created and developed creative program curriculum for classroom use. Curriculum writing produces clear and concise lesson framing, engagement strategies, scaffolding, and assessment. For curriculum editing, my specialties include drama, creative writing, social and emotional learning, history, and speech. I am also an author of fiction, poetry, and drama.

As an educator and consultant: I support writers, authors, and professionals through their personal and professional writing journey. As an editor: I edit and assess numerous pieces of writing including blog posts, articles, marketing copy, website copy, academic curriculum, poetry, picture books, short stories, and novels.
